Art and fashion continue their strong relationship as the civic museum of Cabras undergoes extension in the next few months and a famous fashion designer will play an important role in it. It has infact been announced that Antonio Marras, the italian (and sardinian) eccentric designer, will get busy drawing the facades of the new museum whose architectural restoration has been assigned to Renata Fiamma and Walter Dejana.
The museum will finally hosts the permanent collection of the Giants of Mont’e Prama, the only stone statues which the ancient Nuraghic world has handed down to us.
The project of the building grounds on the existing relationship between dark and light so that the project itself has been named Between Silence and Light.
Reinterpreting Costantino Nivola’s Sand-casting (a sculpture technique), the 176 panels composing the building facades will act as a giant low relief on which the fashion designer will impress shapes, details and weaves.

È stato infatti annunciato che Antonio Marras, l’eccentrico stilista italiano (nonchè sardo) si occuperà di firmare le facciate del nuovo museo il cui progetto architettonico è stato affidato a Renata Fiamma e Walter Dejana. L’annesso ospiterà finalmente la collezione permanente dei Giganti di Mont’e Prama, le uniche statue di pietra ereditate dall’età nuragica.
Il progetto dell’edificio affonda le sue radici nella relazione esistente tra buio e luce cosicché il progetto stesso ha preso il nome di “Tra il silenzio e la luce”.
Le facciate del nuovo padiglione espositivo verranno realizzate attraverso un lavoro di reinterpretazione della tecnica scultorea del Sand-casting, inventata da Costantino Nivola. L’involucro, composto da 176 pannelli tutti diversi tra loro per una superficie complessiva di 700 metri quadri, è pensato come un grande bassorilievo sul quale sono impresse forme, dettagli e trame che renderanno la facciata del museo un’opera artistica di grandissime dimensioni.
Se la facciata è un’opera d’arte di forte espressività, all’interno le statue si mostrano in una sala completamente nera e buia, di grande senso evocativo. Il buio è rotto dalla luce naturale radente e diffusa che penetra da un taglio che corre su tutto il perimetro, tra il volume ed il basamento. Le Statue emergono dal Buio, che rappresenta l’Ignoto, per essere ammirate nella Luce, che rappresenta la Conoscenza.
