/// The curatorial collective OTTN Projects is glad to announce Florilegium, the first solo show in Italy by artist Rebecca Louise Law, opening in Parma on February 29th, 2020 during the Institutional event “Parma Capi-tale Cultura 2020”.
Law is a British Artist whose larger-than-life installations and site-specific sculptures capture the profound power of nature.
The artist’s body of work presented during Florilegium is thought of as an actual being designed to evolve within the hosting space, following the natural course of time. The aspects of physicality and sensualityexpressed by Law’s work investigate the idea of life and beauty in constant mutation. The artist is driven by the acknowledgment of nature itself, particularly flowers which for the artist represent youth, happiness, and freedom, an infinite life.
The willingness of preserving life is deeply embodied in Law’s work, awakening questions on what it meansto preserve and to live. The title Florilegium comes from the Latin “to keep and to preserve flowers”. Theelement of consistency and chorality is important: the single flower is picked to become a cluster.
Florilegium deals with increasingly urgent themes such as the strong yet delicate relationship between hu- manity and the surrounding nature, keeping an objective of communicating with the spectators by embracing them in a call for sustainability. At the core of the exhibition, a site-specific and immersive installation in Chiesa di San Tiburzio, in which the various mutations for all the duration of the artistic event will be visible.
This itinerant exhibition path will continue in the Archivio Storico dell’ Antica Farmacia which will host two site-specific sculptures, while the greenhouse of the Orto Botanico di Parma will guard a short film “Deathof Albine”.
Florilegium comes from a strong desire to bring to Parma a contemporary art exhibition that can offer to the public a unique and unforgettable experience.
In line with this desire, a Public Program was conceived as an integral part of the event, which will involve a citizen call to action in March in the Parco Ducale di Parma. The companies promoting the project for the duration of the event are Davines, Cosmoproject and Chiesi Farmaceutici.
Rebecca Louise Law (1980, United Kingdom) Grown up in a small village in the United Kingdom, she graduated at the School of Arts and Cultures of theNewcastle University. Her most important commissions include: “The Grecian Garden” (Onassis Culture Centre, Athens), “The Beauty of Decay” (Chandran Gallery, San Francisco), “Life in Death” (ShirleySherwo-od Gallery, London) and “Community” (The Toledo Museum of Art). The artist’s works have been shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum, The Royal Academyof Arts, Broadway Studio & Gallery, Bo Lee Galley, NOW Gallery.
OTTN Projects Established in 2018 by Giorgia Ori, OTTN Projects is a non-profit organization that creates connections between art, culture, and people through contemporary art experiences. This female-run business promotes new formats of operating in the art scene, moved by the creative freedom of our generation. The projects can be divided into two broad categories: projects devoted to artists; support, and projects which focus on brin-ging art to the public. OTTN Projects contributes to content creation within the art world through a podcast, a blog,community support and more.
Locations: Chiesa di San Tiburzio, Borgo Palmia, 6, Parma. The exhibition is an action of Pharmacopea, an itinerant project born from the companies Chiesi and Davines in collaboration with various realities in the Parma area, within the scope of the “Open Companies” initiative, part of the Parma Italian Capital of Culture program 2020. Pharmacopea’s goal is to discover andenhance the chemical-pharmaceutical identity of the territory of Parma, with a journey between past and present, tou- ching with initiatives, projects and events that will take place throughout the year at the custodian sites of this identity, such as the Botanical Garden and the Ancient Pharmacy San Filippo Neri.

Ha finalmente aperto i battenti nell’Oratorio di San Tiburzio a Parma – parte del complesso San Tiburzio che include anche l’ Antica Farmacia San Filippo Neri – la prima personale italiana di Rebecca Louise Law: un Florilegium di nome e di fatto, capace di inondare con la sua colorata e profonda brezza d’estate la città di Parma.
Curata da OTTN Projects e inserita nel programma di Parma Capitale italiana della Cultura 2020, Florilegium è l’evento di punta di Pharmacopea- progetto di riscoperta dell’identità chimico-farmaceutica della Piccola Parigi, promosso dal Gruppo Chiesi e Davines. L’installazione è letteralmente una cascata naturale in costante e organico mutamento, composta dalla coabitazione di 200mila fiori, dall’Achillea millefolium al Tortum, che potrà essere contemplata sino al 20 luglio e poi, da settembre fino al 19 dicembre 2020, secondo orari che verranno comunicati nei prossimi mesi.
Gratuita, adatta ai bambini e ideata appositamente per lo spazio di Via Borgo Palmia 6/A, grazie al sostegno di Gruppo Chiesi, Davines e Cosmoproject e alla collaborazione di Ad Personam, Florilegium è il cuore di un’esposizione su più fronti firmata dall’artista britannica, che prosegue anche in questa occasione la propria ricerca sull’evoluzione e sul deperimento dell’opera, spesso concepita come architettura floreale larger-than-lifee scultura site-specific. I luoghi scelti sottolineano il perfetto innesto della mostra nel disegno di Pharmacopea, che intende riconnettere – creando nuovi itinerari turistici in grado di riqualificarli – gli spazi depositari dell’identità chimico-farmaceutica cittadina alle le fonti storiche, ai materiali d’archivio, agli antichi erbari e alle farmacopee riemersi in un meticoloso lavoro di recupero. Tale percorso porterà alla realizzazione di una pubblicazionecapace di tracciare una linea sino alle origini locali di questa sfera del sapere che caratterizza il territorio di Parma.
Sarà inoltre attivato un volontariato aziendaleche contribuirà alla valorizzazione e all’apertura di questo patrimonio storico-culturale a cittadini, visitatori e, in particolare, a un turismo interessato alla sostenibilità, alla storia della cosmesi e della tradizione del benessere.

OTTN Projects Fondata nel 2018, OTTN Projects è una associazione no-profit che crea connessioni tra arte e pubblico. Il team formato da sei donne Under30 promuove nuove modalità di operare nella scena culturale ed artistica, mosse dalla libertà creativa della loro generazione. OTTN Projects si dedica al supporto della comunità degli artisti e a progetti che avvicinino il vasto pubblico all’arte, come eventi espositivi, podcast e cross-collaborations.
