Kristiane Kegelmann creates transient works. Her performative installations and sculptures, which us beholders, obviously firstly experience at a visual level, only later reveal themselves as edible installations.
What she does is questioning the lasting effect of an artwork to its viewer. The contrast between the outward appearance of her sculptures and the unexpected opportunity to eat parts of these introduces the question to the spectator. To experience its whole richness, and remember this as an emotional experience, the user has to overcome the necessary respectful physical distance in the usual museum- or gallery space. The user won’t be a passive party anymore, but becomes involved instead.
He’s no longer just observing but supposed to touch, ”destroy“, consume the work and actively take part in its transformation. Kristiane’s aim is to create a moment of indulgence with an intense taste experience as a part of the mise-en-scène.
For innovative taste compositions she only uses natural and organic ingredients of high quality.

Quello che l’artista fa è mettere in dubbio l’effetto ultimo di un’opera sul suo spettatore. Il contrasto tra l’apparenza delle sue sculture e l’inaspettata possibilità di mangiarne parte introduce la domanda a chi vi sta di fronte. Per viverne l’intensità e ricordarla come un’esperienza emotiva, lo spettatore deve oltrepassare la necessaria distanza fisica che si incontra in uno spazio espositivo, galleria o museo. In questo modo l’utente non sarà più parte passiva, ma sarà coinvolto in prima persona.
Non si preoccuperà più soltanto di osservare, ma verrà invitato a toccare, distruggere, consumare l’opera e prendere parte attivamente nella sua trasformazione. L’obiettivo di Kristiane è di dar vita ad un momento di indulgenza attraverso un’esperienza di gusto intensa che è parte integrante della messa in scena.
