You know we love everything that comes from this man’s mind and that’s exactly what happened this time too. The very moment we saw the collection of vases from the Floating Forest Series, we fell in love with it.
Inspired by an acorn vase by Estrid Ericson, Anastassiades explains the birth of the concept:
‘I became obsessed with the simple idea of suspending a seed on the surface of water; submerged, just to the right level for it to germinate. All with the possibility of being able to support itself in the absence of soil, that would allow it to stand upright; exposed, all in clear view.’
The See Saw is released later this year. // L’altalena verrà rilasciata più avanti durante l’anno.
Made of five brass objects, all produced by hand – the disk, the mobile, the clip, the cone and the see saw – the designer captures the first few steps of the oak tree’s germination process. Each item delicately suspends the seed above the surface where it is encouraged to grow.
The Clip is attached to the glass surface. // La Clip viene attaccata direttamente alla superficie in vetro.
With the first object – Cone – launched back in March, the rest of the collection is scheduled for release throughout the year.

Ispirato da un vaso per una ghianda disegnato da Estrid Erickson, Anastassiades ha così spiegato la nascita dell’idea:
“La semplice idea di sospendere un seme sulla superficie dell’acqua ha iniziato ad ossessionarmi; sommerso fino al livello che serve per lasciarlo germogliare. Il tutto con la possibilità di essere in grado di reggersi anche in assenza del suolo, che ne avrebbe permesso la posizione eretta; tutto ben in vista.”
The Mobile balances the seed. // Il “Mobile” tiene in equilibrio il seme.
Composta da cinque oggetti in ottone, tutti realizzati a mano – il disco, la clip, il “mobile”, il cono e l’altalena – il designer cattura i primi stadi del processo di germogliazione della quercia. Ogni pezzo sospende delicatamente il seme sulla superficie, e lì viene spinto a crescere.
