While you don’t expect it to be a place for street art at all, Teheran is ready to amaze you. Forget everything about the bad and let’s focus on the beautiness of these murals by Mehdi Ghadyanloo. The artist, hailing from the Middle East but now based in London, is well known in his hometown for his more than 100 stunning murals that popped up all over the city during the last 6 years. 

His brilliant technique in trompe l’oeils served to beautify the mostly grey façades of Teheran anonymous architectures but over the past few months it’s taking over London too.

Dimenticatevi per un momento di tutti i fatti di cronaca e concentratevi sulla bellezza di queste illustrazioni murali opera di Mehdi Ghadyanloo. L’artista originario del Medio Oriente ma ora cittadino londinese, è conosciuto in patria per i suoi più di cento murales che nel giro degli ultimi sei anni sono comparsi su svariati palazzi della sua città.

La sua maestria nel trompe l’oeil è servita ad abbellire la maggior parte delle facciate grigie di anonime architetture di Teheran ma in questi ultimi mesi sta raggiungendo anche Londra.

In his murals he’s good at combining dream scenes from another universe with the architectural mishmash that is Teheran, mixing a surrealistic style with the contemporary street art. 

A just closed solo retrospective held at Howard Griffin Gallery in London guarantees we can expect more. Stay tuned and watch him!
