On the occasion of the famous SZIGET music Festival, parisian Atelier YokYok designed an emblematic installation named Treedom. This geometrical forest has been built in 9 days before the opening of the festival (August 10th) and then dismounted in 2 days (after the closing on Aug 17th).
The aim of the project was to gather people around a simple symbol, the forest. More than a simple sculpture, the french team proposed a huge installation that could be walked through, and experienced from within.
A network of 37 pole trees arising until 10m high (for the higher) and more than 200 boards were randomly dispatched on a square grid to create a seemingly wild ensemble, with various densities and transparencies depending on the viewpoint. Each tree was fastened to its neighbouring ones by the branches, which emphasized the feeling of being in a forest.
Some benches joined the trees at their bases, offering outdoor lounges. The installation provided a slight shade during the day, but also a warm ambiance at night time, being illuminated from the canopy.
The construction has been a brilliant example of a great team working operated by Atelier YokYok + Sammode France, who sponsored the lighting of the installation.
// In occasione del famoso Sziget, festival musicale che la città di Budapest ospita ogni estate, lo studio parigino Atelier YokYok ha progettato un’emblematica installazione soprannominata Treedom. Nove i giorni necessari per l’intera costruzione e due quelli per lo smontaggio.
L’obiettivo del progetto è stato quello di raccogliere persone attorno ad un semplice simbolo, in questo caso la foresta. Più di una semplice scultura, lo studio francese ha ideato una enorme installazione che poteva essere attraversata e vissuta dall’interno.
Una rete di 37 pali innalzati fino a 10 metri (il più alto) insieme a più di 200 assi sono stati posizionati in maniera casuale al di sopra di una griglia quadrata a creare un insieme apparentemente disordinato, con diverse densità e trasparenze a seconda del punto di osservazione. Ogni “albero” è stato fissato al suo vicino con rami, che hanno enfatizzato la sensazione di foresta ricreata. Alcune panche posizionate alle basi degli alberi poi creavano delle aree relax.
Durante il giorno l’installazione forniva una leggera ombra alla zona circostante, per lasciare spazio nelle ore serali ad una calda atmosfera, data anche dall’illuminazione sistemata nella copertura.
La realizzazione ha rappresentato un brillante esempio di lavoro di squadra, portato a termine dal team di YokYok insieme a Sammode France, che ha sponsorizzato l’illuminazione dell’installazione.
