Located in Penafiel, a few of kilometres away from Porto, this holiday home is the latest accomplishment for Prod Architecture + Design among their residential works. As its name says, the house is made of four distinct units linked together by one glass central body.
Of course the house was meant to communicate with the surroundings (existent dwellings and landscape), so the team chose materials such as treated Scandinavian pinewood and granite for the exteriors. Then, to adjust the new construction to the hilly ground, they opted for different heights, openings and directions. This way the bedrooms can have their legitimate privacy together with morning-sun while the living area, a more social one, is directly connected to the outside through its transparent facades.
// Situata a Penafiel, a pochi chilometri di distanza da Porto, questa casa per vacanze è l’ultimo progetto dello studio Prod in campo residenziale. Come preannuncia il nome del progetto, la casa si compone di quattro unità distinte collegate da un corpo centrale in vetro.
Naturalmente era previsto che la nuova costruzione comunicasse con l’ambiente circostante (case esistenti e paesaggio), per questo il team ha scelto materiali come legno di pino scandinavo trattato e granito per rivestire gli esterni. Di seguito, per cercare di adattare la nuova struttura al terreno collinare, si è optato per diverse altezze, aperture e direzioni. In questo modo le camere da letto hanno la giusta privacy e godono dei raggi del sole al mattino, mentre la parte living, zona che attiene maggiormente alla collettività, è direttamente connessa all’esterno tramite le sue facciate trasparenti.
